If I had a euro for every time a message popped up on our WhatsApp asking “Catamaran or Monohull?“, I would probably have bought another yacht by now. It is the classic debate. Some of you are worried the Monohull is too “extreme.” Others think the Catamaran is just a fancy, overpriced raft.

Look, we have both in our fleet: our catamaran and the classic Bavarias (Monohulls). We love them both. But honestly? They are totally different.

Let’s start with the Monohull. You know that image of sailing you have in your head? The boat leaning over, the spray of water hitting your face, feeling the power of the wind? That is the Monohull. It’s for the purists. It’s romantic, it’s adventurous, and yes, it leans.

• Who is it for? Couples who want romance, or groups who actually want to sail, not just float.

Now, our catamaran. Forget “sailing” for a second. Think of this as a floating penthouse. Because it has two hulls, it refuses to lean. It stays flat. Dead flat. You can pour a glass of Malagouzia wine, set it on the table, and sail through waves without spilling a drop. It’s not about the sport; it’s about the chill.

• Who is it for? Bachelorette parties, families with energetic kids, and anyone who gets seasick just looking at a boat.

2. The “Shadow Pool” (Our Secret Weapon)

Okay, this is something brochures usually skip, but it’s a game-changer. We call it the “Shadow Pool.”

Since the Catamaran sits on two hulls, there is this massive gap underneath the boat. When we drop anchor at the Blue Lagoon, the boat casts a huge shadow right there in the water. Why should you care?

Here is the deal. Our Catamaran lives in Sithonia (Porto Carras). Why? Because the hidden beaches there are insane.
“But we are staying in Kassandra!” I hear you say. Relax. We have a hack for that. It’s called the VIP Pickup. Think of it like an Uber, but cooler. Instead of you driving 1.5 hours to the marina, the Catamaran comes to pick you up (usually from Paliouri). Yes, there is a fuel fee, but can you really put a price on your boat arriving to pick you up like a rockstar?

5. Let’s Talk Cash

The Catamaran is more expensive. There is no hiding that. But let’s do the “per person” math, shall we?

• Monohull: Roughly 88 € per person (if you are 8 people).
• Catamaran: Roughly 125 € per person (if you are 10 people).

The difference is about 40 €. That is literally the price of one round of cocktails at a beach bar in Kassandra. So the question is: Is it worth skipping one round of drinks to get double the space, the “Shadow Pool,” and zero seasickness?
