About this cruise

A week sailing from Halkidiki to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos on a private yacht with a skipper. Harbours in the evening, empty bays by day.

The Northern Sporades are close enough to Halkidiki to sail to, and far enough that most boats never do. One long day of open water and you are among pine covered islands, with the Halkidiki beaches a long way behind you.

This is the week we suggest. The first night is in Porto Koufo, at the tip of Sithonia, then the crossing to Skiathos. Skopelos gets two days: the chapel on the rock at Agios Ioannis, the one from Mamma Mia, the bay of Panormos, fish for dinner at Agnontas. Then Alonissos and the National Marine Park, where dolphins and monk seals live, and the wreck off Peristera for snorkelling. The skipper moves days around to follow the wind, so you spend the week where the sea is at its best.

You leave from Porto Carras or Paliouri, at no extra cost. Three cabins sleep 6, four sleep 8, and the catamaran takes 8. The price is for the boat and covers the skipper, the final cleaning, linen and towels. Fuel is paid at the end.

  1. Boarding at Porto Carras Marina

    A short briefing, bags in the cabins, and south along Sithonia.

  2. Day 1, Porto Koufo

    First night in the deepest natural harbour in Greece.

  3. Day 2, the crossing to Skiathos

    The long day in open water. Take the helm for a while if you like. Evening in the harbour town.

  4. Day 3, Skopelos and Agios Ioannis

    Up the steps to the chapel on the rock, a swim below it, the night in the bay of Panormos.

  5. Day 4, a quiet bay and Agnontas

    A small bay for the afternoon, then fresh fish in the village of Agnontas.

  6. Day 5, Stafylos and on to Alonissos

    Snorkelling at Stafylos beach, then across to Alonissos and into the Marine Park.

  7. Day 6, Peristera and the Marine Park

    Masks on over the Peristera wreck, the night in a quiet bay of the park, far from any light.

  8. Back at Porto Carras Marina

    The long way home, with the sunset on the last evening.

Cancellation policy

  • A 30% deposit confirms your booking.
  • Cancel more than 21 days before departure: no charge.
  • Between 21 and 7 days: 50% of the deposit.
  • Within 7 days: the full deposit.

Is the programme fixed?

No, and that is the good part. The week above is the one we suggest. The skipper swaps days or bays to follow the wind, so each day you are where the sea is at its best.

How long are the sailing days?

Two are long: the crossing out and the way back, most of a day at sea each. Between the islands the hops are short, so there is plenty of time at anchor.

How many of us can come?

Six on a boat with three cabins, eight on a boat with four cabins or on the catamaran. Everyone gets a proper bed.

What is in the price?

The boat, the skipper and the starter pack: final cleaning, bed linen and towels, the first tank of water and the gas. VAT is in. Fuel is paid at the end, by what we use, and the skipper eats with the group.
